The linguistic phenomenon that characterizes all countries in the world is multilingualism. However, for reasons of socio-economic efficiency, states choose to operate with as few languages as possible, even just one language. This is the case in Burkina Faso, which has 57 national languages but only one official language, French. As a result, due to this position, French is valued above other languages, which risk weakening if there is no reflection on the medium to long-term consequences of this language dynamic. Hence the need for a language policy, which is the subject of this chapter. Its objective is to analyze the management of the language dynamics in Burkina Faso by the Burkinabe state. The results of this research show that Burkina Faso does not have a systematic language policy because the state does not consider strategies for promoting the different national languages.
