Résumé

In today’s economy, organization knowledge and activity knowledge, in particular, are essential for organizations’ growth, enabling stakeholders to understand the complexities of their business, stay ahead in the competitive race, design innovative products and services, or make decisions that align with their goals. Within organization knowledge, activity knowledge enables an understanding of acts that constitute the fundamental blocks of organizations’ businesses. In addition, activity knowledge is useful for core business problem-solving learning and experience sharing among subjects.
In organizations, activity knowledge is shared through local socialization without any trace or managed. On the other hand, activity knowledge as unstructured or semi-structured assets are difficult for stakeholders to understand, machines to interpret, and systems to reuse.
This study introduces the concept of activity knowledge graphs to formalize activity knowledge by building and using a core activity ontology extended from the activity theory established in the social sciences. The proposed ontological knowledge enables the representation and reasoning of organizations’ activity knowledge. An illustrative case of activity knowledge graphs, thereby revealing a utilization of the proposed core activity ontology and its reasoning mechanisms through queries, paving the way for activity knowledge representation and reasoning.
