Résumé

In the town of Dano, weaving is primarily carried out by younger
women as a means of socio-economic empowerment. This research
aims to examine the socio economic factors that hinder the empowerme
nt of women in Dano. It employs a mixed-methods approach, drawing
on primary data collected from women weavers through non-random
sampling based on purposive sampling. The main findings indicate that
the socio-economic empowerment of young women weavers is
hampered by the impact of their social environment, a lack of
opportunities, and a shortage of financial resources. Nearly 97% of
respondents require their family's permission before they can work,
74% face negative social judgment, and 96% express dissatisfaction
with the market. All agree that domestic and agricultural work hinders
their activity, while 62% have received no financial support. These
findings indicate the need to educate communities to remove social
barriers, facilitate access to financing, and develop more market
opportunities for their products. It is also essential to improve their
technical and entrepreneurial skills while reducing the burden of
domestic chores that hinders their economic participation.
