Public key Integrity Verification and Restoration Approach in Passkeys Based on Blockchain and Security Analysis Under Dolev-Yao Model Using ProVerif

Résumé
This work proposes a decentralized mechanism for the verification and restoration of public keys in passkey-based authentication systems. The model relies on a synergistic integration of Blockchain and the distributed file system IPFS, aiming to eliminate dependence on a centralized trusted third party and to enhance the resilience of public key storage. Unlike traditional approaches where the compromise of the public key repository on the Relying Party (RP) leads to identity spoofing, our mechanism ensures the integrity, traceability, and availability of keys in the event of tampering. The experimental analysis highlights the advantages of the hybrid on/off-chain model in terms of scalability, demonstrating a significant improvement in throughput and a reduction in gas costs compared to a fully on-chain architecture. Finally, the formal evaluation conducted under the Dolev–Yao model using the ProVerif tool confirms the robustness of the proposed protocol with respect to confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, and provenance properties.
