NONLOCAL DISCRETE PROBLEM INVOLVING THE ANISOTROPIC p(k)-CAPILLARITY DIFFERENTIAL OPERATOR
Ismaël Nyanquini, Brahim Moussa, Stanislas OuaroIn this paper, we investigate the existence and multiplicity of so- lutions for a class of nonlocal discrete problems governed by a p(k)-capillarity differential operator in a T -dimensional Banach space. Our technical approach is based on a minimization method combined with adequate variational tech- niques, particularly the mountain pass theorem of A. Ambrosetti and P.H. Rabinowitz and the (S+) mapping theory.

Human IgG responses to Anopheles gambiae immunogenic salivary proteins in urban and rural populations of Burkina Faso: biomarkers of exposure to malaria vector bites
Michaël Kaboré, Yéri Esther Hien, Dado Jean Noël Koussé, Fatimata Thiombiano, Mireille Ouédraogo, Abdoul Rahamani Nikiema, Enock Ibrango, Nicolas Ouédraogo, Mariama K. Cherif, Sylvain Ilboudo, Toussaint Rouamba and Guillaume Sylvestre SanouBackground Malaria control would be greatly facilitated by the development of new tools for rapidly assessing malaria transmission intensity. In malaria-endemic areas such as Burkina Faso, human populations are frequently exposed to immunomodulatory salivary components injected during mosquito blood feeding. Numerous studies have examined parasite immunity; however, there are few data available on vector immunity as a means of assessing malaria transmission in sub-Saharan Africa. The present study aims to compare IgG-specific response to salivary gland extracts (SGE) of Anopheles gambiae (An. gambiae) in populations living in urban and rural areas in Burkina Faso.
Methods A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in two sites, Ouagadougou city and Sapouy village, where blood samples (n = 676) from children (0–15 years) and adults were collected. After An. gambiae salivary prot...

HIV-1 Serodiscordant Couples in Ndjamena (Chad): Analysis of Behavioral Patterns, Viral Load and Antiretroviral Therapy Adherence
Seïd Idriss Ahmat, Hassan Mahamat Ali, Yeri Esther Hien, Adawaye Chatte, Djamaladine Mahamat Doungous, François Tabsoba, Seïdé Hamid Moussa, Zara Moussa Mahamat, Aly Savadogo, Yves TraoreThe Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) remains a major global public health challenge. By 2022, there were nearly 39.9 million people globally living with HIV, 53% are women and girls. Serodiscordant couples, a couple with one partner positive for HIV, play a critical role in HIV transmission. This is particularly evident in sub-Saharan Africa, where up to 10.90% of couples are serodiscordant, making them a key population for targeted prevention efforts. This study aimed to determine the impact of viral load, antiretroviral therapy (ART) adherence and the behavioral pattern of serodiscordant couple likely to influence HIV transmission. A prospective study was carried out and con- cerned HIV-1 serodiscordant couples. Parameters such as age, frequency of HIV testing, duration of relationship, number of children, social status, and educational level of partners were analyzed. Questionnaires...

Tiono, Sodiomon B. Sirima, Athanase Badolo & Jacques SimporéDespite significant progress, malaria remains a public health problem in many regions, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. This situation is partly explained by the mosquito’s resistance to insecticides and the emergence of parasite resistance to antimalarial drugs. Indeed, in spite of the various vectors’ controls, insecticide resistance emerges from multi-generational selection and poses worldwide concern. In parallel, artemisinin resistance unfortunately emerged independently in multiple countries in eastern Africa. Since 2014, artemisinin resistance has been observed in 6 countries in Africa and, more concerningly, the evidence from longitudinal molecular surveys in these countries suggests that it is spreading. While phenotypic evidence of treatment failure is still limited, the increasing reports of validated artemisinin resistance mutations are alarming. Unlike the emergence of ar...

How does community health feature in Global Financing Facility planning documents to support reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNAH-N)? insights from six francophone West African countries
Joël Arthur Kiendrébéogo, Orokia Sory, Issa Kaboré, Yamba Kafando, Rosie Steege, Asha S. George, Meghan Bruce KumarBackground
Community health is key for improving Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH-N). However, how community health supports integrated RMNCAH-N service delivery in francophone West Africa is under-researched.
Objective
We examined how six francophone West African countries (Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger, and Senegal) support community health through the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents (GFF).
Methods
We conducted a content analysis on Investment Cases and Project Appraisal Documents from selected countries, and set out the scope of the analysis and the key search terms. We applied an iterative hybrid inductive-deductive approach to identify themes for data coding and extraction. The extracted data were compared within and across countries and further grouped into meaningful catego...

Evaluation of the Specific Growth Rate to Predict the Biogas Production Process in a Mini-Biodigester
Noufou Bagaya, Windé Nongué Daniel Koumbem, Younoussa Moussa Baldé, Sette Diop, Bruno Korgo, Sié KamThe paper proposes an online estimation of biogas production for a household
digester. The specific growth rate of aggregated biomass of a standard chemostat is estimated
from the online measurements of dilution rate and biogas flow rate. That estimation is based
upon usual 1-stage model without additional assumption on the online availability of neither
yield coefficients nor concentrations of biomass or substrate. Next, ADM1 is used, in an
empirical way, to identify yield coefficients. Finally, biomass concentration is estimated from
the 1-stage model equations allowing the reconfirmation of biogas flow rate measurements at
a 4m3 digester in a rural area in Burkina Faso.

Quantum chemical studies on inhibiting copper corrosion in nitric acid using some coumarin derivatives
M. Cissé, Y. Bakouan, V. Kouakou, M.A. Tigori and P.M. NiamienEfforts have been made to limit copper corrosion. Among the many strategies available to protect copper against corrosion, the use of inhibitors is one of the most practical and effective methods. In recent years, quantum chemical calculations have been used to search for new inhibitors. The aim of this work is to study the inhibiting properties of nine coumarins derivatives in the fight against copper corrosion in 1M nitric acid. The studies were carried out using density functional theory with B3LYP hybrid functional associated with the 6-31G(d, p) orbital basis. Quantum descriptor analysis shows that all coumarin derivatives can accept and donate electrons to the metal. These electron exchanges will promote the formation of covalent bonds. These bonds create a protective layer on the metal's surface to reduce dissolution. The sites of reactivity likely to react with the vacant (metal)...

Taryètba Andre Arthur Seghda1*, Anna Tall/Thiam, Dangwe Temoua Naibe, Georges Rosa Christian Millogo, Abou Coulibaly, Kadari Cissé, Peggy Ouédraogo/Segda, Martin Wendlassida Nacanabo, Djeme Claudine Dah, Mireille Abouga/Loya, Laurence Flork, Nobila Valentin Yameogo, André K Samadoulougou and Patrice ZabsonreBackground: The prognosis value of syncope in pulmonary embolism remains uncertain. Our aim in this study is to investigate this question.
Materials and methods: This was a prospective, single-center cohort study of pulmonary embolism from March 1, 2017 to June 31, 2022. Patients were subdivided into two groups according to whether or not they had syncope prior to being hospitalized: syncope (+) vs. syncope (-). Our study analysis aimed at identifying factors associated with the
occurrence of syncope. Thereafter, it focused on determining whether syncope was an independent risk factor by using logistic regression that was specific to in-hospital death.
Results: Four hundred and fifty-one patients were included in the study, including 66 with syncope prior to hospitalization. The prevalence of this symptom during pulmonary embolism was of 14.63%. The variables associated with the oc...
